Thirty people convicted of drug trafficking were sentenced to death in Vietnam on Monday.
The suspects, including nine women, are accused of membership of a gang which smuggled nearly two tonnes of heroin from Laos to Vietnam, and then China, according to reports in official media.
Judges and lawyers have not commented on the trial in Quang Ninh province which lasted 20 days.
In Vietnam, trafficking or possessing at least 600 grams of heroin can be punishable by death.
The country began implementing executions by lethal injection in 2011, instead of by firing squad as previously.
