At least ten people died when torrential rain and heavy floods hit the Black Sea resort city of Varna in eastern Bulgaria late Thursday, officials say.
Hundreds of cars were swept away and many houses were damaged in the village of Asparuhovo, said Varna mayor Ivan Portnih.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Tsvetlin Yovchev said that more rainfall is expected in northern and eastern Bulgaria and all relevant regions are working to control the situation.
The death toll is expected to rise, officials said.
In May, the worst floods to hit neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina in 120 years resulted in the deaths of at least 76 people.
