Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday congratulated Anadolu Agency on its 106th anniversary, praising the institution as a leading voice of truth and impartial journalism.
In a message sent to Anadolu President and Director-General Serdar Karagoz, Erdogan said the agency has gone beyond the role of a traditional news organization, serving as “a strong voice of national will, truth and impartial reporting.”
He noted that Anadolu, founded during the most difficult days of Türkiye’s War of Independence to convey the nation’s rightful cause to the world, continues its mission today with the same determination.
“Anadolu Agency, one of the most established institutions of our Republic, has secured a distinguished place in the shared memory of our nation and humanity through its accurate, fast and reliable reporting,” Erdogan said.
Highlighting the agency’s global reach, he added that Anadolu effectively uses all the tools of the modern communications era to pursue the truth worldwide and has become one of Türkiye’s strong representatives on the international stage.
The president also commemorated the founders of the agency and expressed gratitude to all past and present employees, wishing continued success to its staff.
Erdogan voiced confidence that the agency will continue its work with the same determination and commitment as “the voice of truth.”
Founded on April 6, 1920, under the direction of Ataturk during Türkiye’s War of Independence, Anadolu was created to keep the public informed amid provocations that could undermine national unity and to announce decisions shaping the national struggle. This year marks its 106th anniversary.
