KOCAELI, Türkiye

An infant was pulled out alive from the rubble of a collapsed building in southern Türkiye on Saturday in yet another miraculous rescue as it has now been six days since two massive earthquakes shook the region.

The baby, believed to be two months old, was rescued in the Hatay province after trapped under the debris for 128 hours, and delivered to health teams for medical care.

At least 20,937 people died and 102,388 others injured in two strong earthquakes that jolted southern Türkiye on Monday, according to latest official figures.

The magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes, centered in Kahramanmaras province, affected more than 13 million people across 10 provinces, including Hatay, Gaziantep, Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa.

Several countries in the region, including Syria and Lebanon, felt the strong tremors that struck in the space of fewer than 10 hours.
