BRUSSELS
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has given a detailed briefing on Syria during a meeting with his NATO counterparts in Brussels, Turkish diplomatic sources said Thursday.
Sources quoted Davutoglu as telling his NATO foreign and defense ministers that the Syrian regime had "abused a chance offered by the Annan plan," which included a government cease-fire and dialogue with the opposition groups.
The briefing came during a working lunch of NATO foreign and defense ministers in Brussels who gathered for the preparations of a Chicago summit meeting of the alliance in late May.
Davutoglu's briefing featured a recent cross-border Syrian aggression that killed two people in one of the several camps along the border that shelters nearly 25 thousand Syrians who had fled violence as well as Syrian army's continued attacks on opposition groups.
The Turkish foreign minister is expected to proceed to Paris from Brussels to participate in a meeting of the Friends of the Syrian People group.
