Uruguayan football star Luis Suarez may miss the upcoming World Cup as he undergoes a knee operation on Thursday.
According to French sports newspaper "L'Equipe", the Uruguayan international has to be operated on Thursday after suffering a meniscus injury during practice on Wednesday.
An entire country is now holding its breath as his participation in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil is in doubt.
Liverpool's 27-year-old striker Luis Suarez was the top scorer of 2013-14 English Premier League with 31 goals. He was voted best player of the year by his peers.
Uruguay reached the semifinals in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This year, it will be competing against Italy, England and Costa Rica in Group D. The competition begins on June 12.
