ISTANBUL

Ukraine on Monday has summoned the Iranian diplomat in Kyiv over the country’s "concern" of Iran's possible ballistic missile transfer to Russia.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the relevant comment of the ministry was handed to Iranian chargé d'Affaires Shahriar Amuzegar "with a strict warning that confirmation of Iran's supply of ballistic weapons to the aggressor state would have devastating and irreparable consequences for Ukrainian-Iranian bilateral relations."

According to media reports, a batch of 200 Iranian ballistic missiles has already arrived at an unspecified port on the Caspian Sea on Sept. 4.

The Iranian authorities have been consistently rejecting Ukraine's claims about supplying weapons to Russia.

On Monday, the Kremlin denied media reports claiming that Iran has allegedly sent short-range ballistic missiles to Russia.

Iran and Russia are close allies who have bolstered bilateral ties in recent years amid growing tensions with the US.
