Bahrain reports 1 dead in Iranian attack on residential building in capital
8 others injured 'as a result of a blatant Iranian attack' in Manama, says Interior Ministry
WASHINGTON
At least one person was killed and several others injured in an Iranian attack in Bahrain’s capital, the Gulf country’s Interior Ministry said early Tuesday.
"A 29-year-old Bahraini woman died and eight people were injured as a result of the blatant Iranian aggression against a residential building in Manama," the ministry said on the US social media company X’s platform.
Earlier, the ministry urged citizens and residents to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place.
The development came as regional tensions have escalated since Feb. 28, when the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran that has killed more than 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
