Saudi Arabia offered its condolences to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates on Monday over the deaths of a number of members of their armed and security forces while performing national duties.
In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed the Kingdom’s “deep sorrow and sincere condolences to the governments and peoples of the sisterly States of Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates” over the deaths of the personnel.
It also affirmed Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with the two Gulf states, stressing that the Kingdom stands with Kuwait and the UAE and is ready to support any measures they take.
The statement further expressed wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured.
Earlier, the UAE said that two soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash.
Kuwait said Sunday that two officers were killed in the line of duty during a wave of attacks that targeted several locations, most notably Kuwait International Airport.
Regional escalation has intensified since Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Iranian authorities.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
