TASHKENT
Uzbekistan Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev said he stands by his neighboring country Kyrgyzstan in its path to developing into a stable country.
Mirziyoyev and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Prime Minister Jantoro Satybaldiev will both attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s conference on Friday.
The prime ministers will sign an agreement on their joint borders, on which a border barrier was built in 1999 to prevent terrorist infiltration.
Emphasizing that the conference will be a good opportunity to discuss the perspectives and challenges of neighboring Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, Mirziyoyev said barriers to cooperation should be overcome.
Mirziyoyev said the respective populations of the two neighboring countries, which share the same culture and religion, have lived in peace side by side for hundreds of years. Satybaldiev underlined that both he and his country Uzbekistan are ready for a constructive dialogue, concerning all areas.
