NEW YORK
At least three million Americans attended Macy’s 87th Thanksgiving Day parade with popular film and cartoon characters such as Spiderman, Smurfs and Ninja Turtles.
Although there was a risk of cancelling the parade, held in New York City, because of strong winds, it took place as usual on the last Thursday of November.
The colorful parade, which was watched live by more than 50 million people, began on 77th Street at Central Park and finished at Herald Square.
There were school groups, clowns, giant balloons of cartoon characters, dancers, actors and artists at the parade square.
The New York Thanksgiving march has been held since 1927 by the Macy’s store chain.
