TEHRAN
The United Arab Emirate’s Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zeyid met with Iranian counterpart Muhammed Javad Zarif and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on separate occasions in Iran.
Zarif greeted Zeyid at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran, before the two foreign ministers met to discuss improvement of Iranian and UAE relations.
Zeyid’s meetings with Rouhani and Zarif comes amidst a nuclear deal between the P5+1 group and Iran, which curbs Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for easing sanctions on Iran.
Underlining that the success of the countries in the region is tied to Iran’s success and that threats to the region also indicates threats to Iran, Zarif said improving relations with neighboring countries is Tehran’s main priority.
UAE Foreign Minister Zeyid emphasized that the security and stability of every country in a region also affects countries in other regions.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also met with Zeyid in a meeting closed to the press, during which improvements of Iran and UAE’s economic relations were discussed.
