ANKARA

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday met Indonesia's President-elect and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto in the capital Ankara.

According to Türkiye's Communications Directorate, Erdogan and Subianto discussed bilateral relations and Israel's attacks on Gaza, besides regional and global issues.

Erdogan said bilateral relations, which are strengthened by deep-rooted historical and cultural ties, will continue to develop in every field, particularly in the defense industry, economy, and energy.

The Turkish leader said Ankara and Jakarta should cooperate more effectively on international platforms such as the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the G20, and MIKTA.

Erdogan said Islamic countries need to enhance their efforts to end the Israeli oppression in Palestinian territories and to provide urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza, where Israel has killed more than 39,000 Palestinians since Oct. 7.

Subianto arrived in Ankara on an official visit on Monday and had a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. He was elected in February and will take charge in October.
