GENEVA
Seoul-based North Korean Human Rights Watch has called on the Swiss authorities to freeze the assets of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The non-governmental organization made the call after claiming Kim has about $4 billion in Swiss banks made through "illegal" means.
Ahn Myeong Chul, Executive Director of NK Watch, told reporters in Geneva on Monday: "North Korea's money in Switzerland, that they made through corruption and by selling drugs and illegal weapons to other countries, is black money."
"He [Kim Jong-un] neither confirms, nor denies (this)," he added.
The call came ahead of a UN General Assembly vote scheduled on Tuesday on a resolution which will decide whether human rights violations in North Korea will be submitted to the Security Council for a referral to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
He also called on the international community to send Kim to the ICC.
"By sending him to the ICC, the people of North Korea will be aware of the fact that their leader is a criminal," Chul added.
According to UN reports, North Korea is committing "unspeakable atrocities" against its own people.
