WARSAW
Voting in the Polish presidential election got underway on Sunday, with incumbent Bronislaw Komorowski seeking a second term.
Komorowski, who is allied to the center-right Civic Platform party, is facing ten other candidates, including main rival Andrzej Duda of the Law and Justice party.
The 62-year-old, who took office in 2010 after the death of predecessor Lech Kaczynski in a plane crash, is expected to win a second five-year term.
If no candidate secures at least 50 percent of the vote, a runoff poll will be held on May 24.
The role of president is largely ceremonial although the office-holder is head of the Polish armed forces and can veto legislation.
Polling stations opened at 7.00 am local time (0500GMT) and will close at 22:00.
