Bahrain says it intercepted 154 missiles, 362 drones since onset of Iranian attacks
Military says air defenses continue to counter what it describes as Iranian attacks
ISTANBUL
Bahrain said on Friday that it has intercepted and destroyed 154 missiles and 362 drones since Feb. 28 as part of what it described as Iranian attacks on the kingdom, according to a statement.
The General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force said in a statement that its air defense systems are continuing to confront what it called “terrorist Iranian attacks” targeting the country.
It said that since the start of the attacks, “154 missiles and 362 drones have been intercepted and destroyed.”
The attacks come as Iran responds to US and Israeli military operations against it since Feb. 28.
Since then, Israel and the United States have carried out strikes on Iran that have killed hundreds of people, including senior figures, while Tehran has responded by launching missiles and drones toward Israel.
Iran has also targeted what it describes as US sites and interests in Arab countries, including Bahrain. Some of those attacks have caused casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, prompting condemnation from affected countries, which have repeatedly called for an end to the strikes.
