Trump waives executive privilege for Biden’s former physician in probe: Report

WASHINGTON

US President Donald Trump has waived executive privilege for Dr. Kevin O’Connor, former President Joe Biden’s physician, allowing him to testify before Congress, according to a report Tuesday.

O’Connor was subpoenaed last week by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer as part of a probe into allegations that Biden’s aides concealed his physical and mental decline while in office, Fox News Digital reported.

The waiver, confirmed in a letter from the White House Counsel’s Office obtained by Fox News, said the “extraordinary events” warranted an “accommodation to Congress.”

“In light of the unique and extraordinary nature of the matters under investigation, President Trump has determined that an assertion of executive privilege is not in the national interest and therefore is not justified,” the letter said. “Evidence that aides to former President Biden concealed information regarding his fitness...implicates both Congress’ constitutional and legislative powers.”

O’Connor’s legal team had requested a delay, citing concerns over breaching doctor-patient confidentiality, it reported.

A failure to appear would risk defying a congressional subpoena, it added.
