WASHINGTON

US President Donald Trump touted Tuesday what he called "the largest package of investments" in energy and tech in Pennsylvania's history as he gathered executives for a summit in the keystone state.

Trump said the 20 assembled executives are announcing investments in Pennsylvania that are jointly worth some $92 billion, declaring "this is a really triumphant day for the people of the Commonwealth and for the United States of America."

"Today's commitments are ensuring that the future is going to be designed, built and made right here in Pennsylvania and right here in Pittsburgh, and I have to say, right here in the United States of America," he said at the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, which was being hosted at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

"We're here today because we believe that America's destiny is to dominate every industry, be the first in every technology, and that includes being the world's number one superpower in artificial intelligence. And we are way ahead of China," he added.

Artificial intelligence was a central focus of Tuesday's summit, and Trump maintained that his administration would seek to ensure that the US remains at the forefront of the "AI revolution."

The investments announced Tuesday include a $25 billion commitment from investment firm Blackstone to build data centers and energy infrastructure in northeastern Pennsylvania and another $25 billion from Google for data centers and AI infrastructure.

Brookfield Energy also announced a $3 billion commitment to rebuild two hydro power facilities to help power Google facilities.
