WASHINGTON

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he doesn't understand the ongoing interest many of his own supporters have in the Jeffrey Epstein case, dismissing it as “sordid, but boring.”

“I don’t understand it, why they would be so interested. He’s been dead for a long time. He was never a big factor in terms of life,” Trump told reporters after an event in Pennsylvania. “I don’t understand what the fascination is. I really don’t. And the credible information has been given.”

“I don’t understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody. It’s pretty boring stuff. It’s sordid, but it’s boring,” he said. “And I don’t understand why it keeps going. I think really only pretty bad people, including fake news, want to keep something like that going.”

His remarks came amid frustration among Trump supporters over the administration’s handling of documents related to Epstein

Epstein, a wealthy financier and convicted child sex offender with ties to powerful political and business figures, was arrested on sex trafficking charges and died in 2019 while awaiting trial.

Supporters have also directed criticism at Attorney General Pam Bondi, who previously suggested that Epstein-related documents were sitting on her desk but later denied the existence of an Epstein “client list.”

Trump defended Bondi, telling reporters at the White House on Tuesday that she "has handled that very well."

"She’s really done a very good job, and I think that when you look at that, you’ll understand it," he said, adding that "credibility is very important."
