Senior Russian diplomat rejects Trump's claims of BRICS being anti-US
Sergey Ryabkov urges US to address tariff issues through discussions

MOSCOW
BRICS is not an anti-American alliance, and its agenda does not contain anti-American components, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Thursday.
Ryabkov told Anadolu at a news conference in Moscow that when Washington violates “important elements of international law,” BRICS refers to those happenings by using accurate terminology.
He cited US attacks on Iranian nuclear infrastructure facilities last month, which are guaranteed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
"We described these events based solely on facts, avoiding any embellishment," Ryabkov said, referencing comments by US President Donald Trump, who termed the "anti-American" 2025 BRICS final declaration at a summit in Brazil.
Ryabkov added that all details regarding the incidents were accurately represented in the Rio summit’s declaration.
Regarding Trump's threat to impose tariffs on BRICS nations, Ryabkov emphasized that issues like trade disputes, tariff negotiations, and similar matters should be handled through discussions among relevant parties.
"I believe this should occur via normal, calm dialogue where compromises and solutions can be reached," said Ryabkov. "We encourage the American side to adopt this approach."
He also stressed that neither threats nor manipulative tactics have any place in conversations involving BRICS member states.
