Turkish journalist Savas Ay dies of throat cancer

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish journalist Savas Ay passed away due to throat cancer at his 59.

It was stated that Ay died in Istanbul Training and Research Hospital in Samatya where he was receiving treatment.

Born in Gaziantep in 1954 as the son of Sukran and Turan Ay, Savas Ay completed his bachelor's degree in Marmara Commerical Sciences Academy. He started journalism in Dunya (World) newspaper in 1973 as a journalist, then he worked for Tercuman, Vatan, Milliyet, Sabah, and Akajans.

Savas Ay made the "A Team" talk show program, which was a discussion on social and political agenda of Turkey, on ATV, TGRT, Channel D, Channel 6, Show TV, Flash TV, Star TV, and Channel 1 respectively. He was also the scenarist and the director of the movie "Dansoz" (Dancer) starred by Kerem Alisik and Beyazit Ozturk in 2000.
