LONDON

A number of Greenlandic websites are currently facing a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, local media reported on Friday, citing Danish authorities.

The Danish Agency for Social Security said it is aware that there are currently DDoS attacks targeting Greenlandic websites.

"We are monitoring the situation closely and are in ongoing dialogue with relevant authorities in Denmark and Greenland about the current attacks," the agency told broadcaster DR, confirming the cyberattack.

Based on information, the broadcaster reported that the pro-Russian hacker group NoName057(16) is behind the attacks, recalling that the same group carried out massive attacks on Danish municipalities and ministries' websites during the municipal elections in November.

The Danish Defense Intelligence Service (DE) sees the group affiliated with the Russian state.
