COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AA) -
Lars Lokke Rasmussen has officially taken charge of Denmark’s government as prime minister following the June 18 elections.
The centre-right Venstre Party announced the minority government Sunday.
Introducing his 17-person Cabinet to the queen, Rasmussen said that they would work on laws to "make Denmark less desirable for refugees".
Although Venstre finished the June 18 election in the third place with 19.5 percent of the vote behind Social Democrats and the far-right Danish People's Party, Rasmussen was elected head of the government since other parties could not constitute a majority to form a government.
Rasmussen’s Cabinet includes Finance Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen, Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen, Justice Minister Soren Pind, Immigration and Housing Minister Inger Stojberg, Tax Minister Karsten Lauritzen, Culture and Church Minister Bertel Haarder, Transport and Buildings Minister Hans Christian Schmidt, Environment and Agriculture Minister Eva Kjer Hansen, Business and Growth Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, Social Minister and Minister of the Interior Karen Ellemann, Energy and Climate Minister Lars Christian Lilleholt, Minister for Children, Education and Equality Ellen Trane Norby, Health and Elderly Minister Sophie Lohde, Higher Education and Research Minister Esben Lunde Larsen, Defense Minister and MInister for Nordic Affairs Carl Holst and Employment Minister Jorn Neergaard Larsen.
