Turkish stock exchange hits another record high at weekly close
Benchmark index gains 141.22 points to reach 12,992.71 points
ISTANBUL
Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended the week on Friday at 12,992.71 points, up 1.1%, hitting a record high closing level.
After starting the day at 12,924.20 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 141.22 points from Thursday's close. During the day, the index briefly exceeded the 13,000 level for the first time.
The lowest value of the index was 12,904.56, while the daily high was 13,030.83.
The market value of BIST 100 was around 12.83 trillion Turkish liras ($296.9 billion), with a trading volume of 181.6 billion liras ($4.18 billion).
A total of 70 stocks on the index rose and 29 dropped, compared to the previous close.
Gold was $4,947.75 per ounce, while Brent crude oil sold for $65.1 per barrel as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 43.3705, the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate 51.0015, and the British pound traded for 58.8040 liras.
