In the first two months of 2012, 538 Turkish companies exported products to Syria, added Caglayan who responded a question motion at Parliament.
The number of Turkish companies which made import from Syria in 2011 was 644, and it is 108 in the first two months of 2012, said Caglayan.
Turkish investments in Syria approximately worth one billion USD, he said.
The wave of "Arab Spring" reached Syria on March 15, 2011 and Syrian people started to protest the government in a small southern city. The government responded with heavy-handed force, and demonstrations quickly spread across much of the country. Thousands of people are reported to be killed in ongoing protests in Syria so far.
The number of Syrians staying in Turkey after fleeing violence in their country increased to 24,319 as of April 12.
