Rauf Denktas has undergone a surgery at the Gulhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) in Ankara.***

Serdar Denktas, son of the first president of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), said that the 4-hour surgery was successful and his father was in stable condition after doctors drained blood from his brain. "He will be kept in the intensive care unit for a couple of days," he added.
Denktas was hospitalized at Ankara's GATA on July 8 after having a partial paralysis caused by an embolism on May 24.
