Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed was sworn in as Somalia's Prime Minister on Saturday after he won the confidence of the parliament.
Some 239 lawmakers of the 275-member parliament voted to give confidence to the premier, lawmaker Abdullah Hussein told Anadolu Agency.
Only one lawmaker voted against, while 32 lawmakers absented.
Under Somalia constitution, Abdiweli, has a 30-day period to form a government.
Earlier this month, the parliament voted to withdraw confidence from the government of Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon following a feud between President Hassan Sheikh Mahmud and Shirdon over the formation of his government.
Abdiweli, 54, had worked with several regional and international organizations, including the Islamic Development Bank, the World Bank and the African Union.
