President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Tuesday he will attend an online meeting Wednesday with the US on the peace process with Russia, Ukrinform reported.

Zelenskyy said at a press conference at the Bucha Summit 2026 that the talks aim to clarify each side’s position on the peace track and determine when the next trilateral meeting with Russia could take place.

He added that the meeting will also be attended by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, among others.

Zelenskyy also claimed that the Russian side is telling the US that it will supposedly capture Ukraine’s east Donbas in two months.

“Therefore, Ukraine has two months to withdraw, and then the war will end. If Ukraine does not withdraw within two months, then Russia will capture Donbas and then there will be other conditions,” he said.

Zelenskyy once again underlined that territorial issues are the most relevant in the negotiation process.

He also said Russia is trying to pressure the US ahead of the midterm elections, while emphasizing that Washington has the ability to influence Moscow and return the negotiation process “to logic.”

“It is clear that the United States needs to take different steps in domestic policy, in foreign policy. We really hope that on the negotiation track, the issue will still return to logic, and not to Russia's emotionality,” he said.

Russia and Ukraine held several rounds of talks earlier this year that were mediated by the US, with the goal of ending the conflict. The contacts were disrupted, however, after the US-Israeli attack on Iran late last month.
