Ballot boxes closed in Egypt in the first round of presidential elections on Thursday.
Election officials began counting votes at nearly 5,000 polling stations in 27 cities as turnout was significantly high in the competition of 12 presidential hopefuls.
Election authorities had yet to make an official statement and a top elections board official said it was not clear when result would be made public.
