The Pakistan-US strategic dialogue ministerial meeting will be held in Washington on 27 January 2014.
The meeting will discuss partnership opportunities for strategic stability, defense, energy, economic growth, law-enforcement and counter-terrorism. The Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz will lead a senior level delegation with his US counterpart, Secretary of State John Kerry, Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam announced on Friday.
The dialogue between the two close allies in the so-called war on terror, was revived in August 2013 during Kerry’s visit to Pakistan. The dialogue "marks the commitment of both countries to strengthen Pakistan-US bilateral relations and advance shared interests,” Aslam stated in a handout.
Pakistan-US strategic dialogue provides a framework for discussions on a wide range of issues of mutual interest and focuses on enhancing cooperation on issues of mutual concern.
The ministerial level meeting will also afford an opportunity to highlight the priorities of the Government of Pakistan for economic development, including expansion of trade and investment.
