MAZAR-E SHARIF, Afghanistan
A member of NATO-led forces in Afghanistan was killed Wednesday in an attack in the country's south.
The International Security Assistance Forces did not identify the serviceperson, which it said is the role of the relevant national authorities.
Five International Security Assistance Force soldiers were killed two weeks ago, when their unit came into contact with enemy forces during a security operation in southern Afghanistan. The number of ISAF casualties in 2014 is now more than 40.
U.S.-led troops are expected to pull out of Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
