Iraq's Union for Muslim Scholars held Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki responsible of the acts of violence in various provinces across Iraq, especially in the Shia dominated regions.
The Union defined the attacks as "an ugly move to provoke the Sunnis and Shias", according to a statement released on their website.
The Union urged the Muslims to break their silence against the crimes Maliki has perpetrated.
The Union also called on the Arab League, the UN and religious authorities to topple Maliki.
23 people lost their lives and 84 were injured during incidents that occurred in various provinces across Iraq on Monday.
