FALLUJAH, Iraq
The Iraqi army said Monday that police had killed Al-Qaeda leader in Iraq's western Anbar province Abu Mohanad al-Swaydawi.
In a statement, the Iraqi army said that local police had killed al-Swaydawi on an island in eastern Anbar.
Anbar has been the site of a major Iraqi army operation since December 21, launched with the stated aim of hunting down militants from the Al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.
