CAIRO (AA) – Egypt will get a $2 billion loan from Saudi Arabia in the coming days as part of an $8 billion financial program, Finance Minister Fayyad Abdel Moneim told the Anadolu Agency Tuesday.
The minister added that the Finance Ministry and the Central Bank will meet Wednesday with United Arab Emirates (UAE) to discuss the details of an aid package.
The Egyptian Presidency announced earlier today that the UAE will offer the country $1 billion as grant and will deposit with the Central Bank 2$ billion interest-free.
Interim President Adly Mansour met earlier Tuesday with a high-level ministerial delegation from the UAE that arrived today on the first official Arab visit since the ouster of elected President Mohammad Morsi.
Egypt’s relations with Saudi and the UAE had strained under Morsi.
