BAGHDAD
An Iranian diplomat who attended talks in Baghdad between Iran and 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) said Iran insisted on enrichment of uranium to 20 percent.
During talks, European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton offered enrichment of uranium to 5 percent level, stating that the United States demanded that Iran halt its enrichment of uranium.
Talks which started in Baghdad on Wednesday continues today.
Ashton and Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili first met Thursday.
Later Iranian delegation and delegations of world powers, permanent five members plus Germany held talks.
Iranian diplomat said that Iranian party has been waiting for a response to its five-point proposal package.
There are two different proposals from sides. Permanent five members the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany seek to halt the most sensitive part of Iran's nuclear fuel production.
Iran wants the P5+1 countries to reduce severe economic sanctions on its oil exports in return for pledges to give wider access for U.N. inspectors and other concessions.
The US and its allies fear Iran's nuclear program could eventually produce atomic weapons. Iran insists its reactors are only for energy and research purposes.
