KABUL
Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah survived a bomb attack that killed six people in capital city Kabul on Friday, according to the Ministry of Interior.
The ministry's deputy spokesperson Najib Danish said 22 people were also wounded when two suicide bombers targeted Abdullah after an election rally.
Members of the security team as well as civilians were injured in the attack. Danish said one attacker used a car while the other was wearing a coat full of explosives.
“All our team members have survived the attack,” Abdullah said after the blasts, one of which occurred in front of the vehicle taking him to another rally.
Abdullah's election rival Ashraf Ghani has strongly condemned the attack, as did current President Hamid Karzai, who said it was carried out by the "enemies of Afghanistan" who wanted to disrupt the election process.
The Afghan presidential run-off polls are scheduled for June 14.
