Egypt Brotherhood party not to recognize Sisi's decisions

CAIRO

The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the political arm of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, has said it would not recognize any decisions issued by newly-elected president Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.

"We will neither recognize the coup regime nor any of its resulting decisions until elected president Mohamed Morsi is reinstated," the FJP declared in a Friday statement.

Al-Sisi, a former army chief, was declared the winner of last week's Egyptian presidential election, in which he clinched almost 97 percent of the vote, according to Egypt's election commission.

Al-Sisi led the army to unseat democratically elected Morsi last July following opposition protests against the latter's single year in office.

Morsi's supporters, who consider his ouster a "military coup," have staged almost daily rallies to demand his reinstatement.

The FJP, for its part, has called on all of Egypt's national and revolutionary forces to close ranks "against injustice and tyranny."

Since Morsi's ouster and imprisonment last summer, Egypt's army-backed authorities have launched a sustained crackdown on his supporters and members of his Muslim Brotherhood group, in which hundreds have been killed and thousands rounded up.
