IDLIB
AA correspondents displayed Taftanaz air base in Idlib after opponents seized the control.
The correspondents, who were not allowed to enter the base, displayed damaged helicopters and tanks in the entrance of the base from a distance.
Following an 11-day siege by Free Syrian Army forces, opponents gained full control of the base which is located in Taftanaz town of Idlib in the north of Syria.
Opponents say they seized a military base which had a strategic importance in the region.
Ebubekir as-Sami, a commander in FSA, told AA that there were nearly 30 helicopters in the base, and they seized an important amount of weapons and ammunition.
We have gained a strategic victory by seizing control in the base, he said.
We have cut the aid roads of regime, he added.
