MOSCOW (AA) – The number of people dead in the AN-12 cargo plane crash in Irkutsj city of Russia rose to nine, according to Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Russian official news agencies said that the cargo plane, with 9 people on board departed from Novosibirsk for Irkutsk, and crashed in a military area near the Irkutsk city.
The plane was said to be transporting materials from Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association (NAPO) to a factory in Irkutsk.
AN-12 aircrafts conducted their first flight in 1957 and went through approximately 40 modifications. The aircrafts are capable of flying up to 3,200 km and can transport about 20 tones.
