Türkiye extends condolences over deadly floods in southern Africa
Foreign Ministry expresses sadness, wishes 'a speedy recovery to the injured'
ANKARA
Türkiye on Tuesday expressed sadness over the loss of lives caused by recent floods in southern Africa, extending condolences to the affected nations.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to the floods in southern Africa, affecting countries in the region, particularly Mozambique, Zimbabwe and the Republic of South Africa," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Ankara extended its condolences “to the families of those who lost their lives and to the peoples of all the affected countries.”
The ministry also conveyed best wishes for a “speedy recovery to the injured.”
The floods, which have affected over 650,000 people so far, have caused widespread destruction across Mozambique, damaging roads, schools, health facilities and other critical infrastructure, with Gaza Province the worst affected and at least 12 deaths reported nationwide.
