Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday met with leaders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Kazakhstan's capital Astana.

"President (Erdogan), who is in Kazakhstan's capital Astana for the 10th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, met with President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan," the Turkish presidency said on X.

Erdogan and Japarov discussed efforts to fight terrorism, regional and global issues, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at the 10th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, Türkiye's Communication Directorate said in a later statement.

Emphasizing the importance of the global community's reaction to Israel's human rights violations in Gaza, Erdogan said the Organization of Turkic States could play a collective role promoting a humanitarian cease-fire and fostering peace in the region.

He also met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, during which they discussed bilateral ties, regional and global developments, and the latest situation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Communications Directorate said in a separate post on X.

The statement also noted that Erdogan said the international community must take "effective steps to end the violations of human rights in Palestine" and that Ankara continues to make efforts for peace.

"Concerning the establishment of global peace and regional tranquility, President Erdogan stated that it would be beneficial to pave the way for humanitarian aid and to immediately establish a guarantor mechanism as a solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict with the participation of all relevant actors," it added.

Earlier in the day, the Turkish president arrived in Astana, where he will attend the OTS summit on Friday and hold various bilateral meetings.

The OTS, formerly called the Turkic Council, was established in 2009 as an intergovernmental organization made up of prominent independent Turkic countries that work together to elevate relations and union among themselves.

Its members are Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, while Hungary, Turkmenistan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have observer status.
