Turkish premier division club Fenerbahce said Friday that UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body had ruled that the Istanbul side can compete in the Champions League in 2012-2013 season, however, the final decision would be made by a higher disciplinary board of UEFA.
Fenerbahce said in a regulatory filing that the Control and Disciplinary Body had conveyed its ruling in a letter sent to the club as well as to the Turkish Federation.
Fenerbahce was banned from Champions League due to a match-fixing scandal which implicated the club's president, Aziz Yildirim, and several Turkish players in rigging at least 19 games in the 2010-2011 season.
In related news, the Court of Arbitration in Sport ruled on Friday to lift a ban on Turkish football club Bursaspor from participating in European competitions for one year, however, ordered that the Turkish club pay a fine of 250 thousand euros for an alleged late payment of transfer fee to one of its players.
