ISTANBUL
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Friday said that Turkey was a protector of those oppressed in the Middle East.
Speaking at an international conference titled "Arab Spring and Peace in the New Middle East: Muslim and Christian Perspectives" in Istanbul, Davutoglu said that no one could reflect any group in this region as one in need of guardianship and can not appoint itself as a protector.
"When we look at Syria, we do not look at people if they are Sunni, Shiites, Christians or Alawi. We are with the whole Syrian people," Davutoglu stated.
"The destiny of this region can only be drawn by the people of the region itself," Davutoglu stressed.
