BEIRUT
The Turkish Embassy in Beirut said on Friday that Turkish businessman Aydin Tufan Tekin, who was recently abducted in Beirut, was believed to be at the hands of the Miqdad tribe.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), diplomats at the Turkish Embassy in Beirut said that they had reliable information that Tekin was still a hostage of the Miqdad tribe.
Meanwhile, a clash took place between the Miqdad tribe and Sinu tribe in south Beirut.
The spokesperson for the Miqdad tribe, Mahir Miqdad argued that many hostages escaped after taking advantage of security vacuum caused during the clash between the Miqdad tribe and Sinu tribe.
Tekin was abducted in Beirut on August 15.
Lebanon working to arrest those responsible for abduction of Turkish businessman
The Lebanese army on Saturday said that they were working to arrest those responsible for the abduction of Turkish businessman Aydin Tufan Tekin and four Syrian nationals recently.
In a statement released Saturday, the Lebanese Armed Forces said that operations were underway against the Miqdad tribe believed to be responsible for the abduction of the five people.
While the Turkish Embassy in Beirut believe they have reliable information suggesting that Tekin is still at the hands of the Miqdad tribe, the spokesperson for the tribe Mahir Miqdad said that he did not know where Tekin and the four Syrians were following the operations of the Lebanese army.
