ANKARA
Members of the International Human Rights and Democracy Association, together with other activists, gathered in front of the US Embassy in Turkish capital Ankara to protest against the decision of a U.S. grand jury not to indict Darren Wilson.
The president of the Human Rights Association, Remzi Cayir, made a statement during the protest in which he said, "Michael Brown, 18, who was killed by a white police officer shows how America's administration is based on favoritism and racism. This is an insult to all mankind."
"We protest against human rights violation in the U.S.," Cayir said, "unfortunately the U.S. and American police are still racists."
Protesters carried placards that read, "We protest against the human rights abuses in the United States."
Activists in Ankara walked out of jobs and schools to protest recent cases of police violence against African Americans, which ignited a debate about race relations in the United States.
A Missouri grand jury declined to indict Wilson last week for the killing and the officer resigned from the police force on Saturday without a severance package.
