Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office decided on Tuesday to detain 17 people in the ongoing post-modern military intervention investigation.
Six of people whom the prosecutor's office want to detain in the ongoing investigation are military officers on duty and the rest 11 are retired officers.
Moreover, police are searching 15 locations in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Kars, Erzincan, Denizli, Kocaeli, Balikesir and Usak within the scope of the probe.
The post-modern coup, or the February 28 process, refers to a military intervention that forced late ex-prime minister Necmettin Erbakan to resign in June 1997 after serving only a year in office.
The process took its name from the February 28, 1997 meeting of the National Security Council (MGK).
