AYDIN (AA) - September 24, 2012 - Peace Boat, a Japan-based international non-governmental and non-profit organization, has docked at Kusadasi port in southwestern Turkey.
On her 77th Global Voyage, departed from Yokohama on August 24, 2012 and stopped by at several ports on her route, Peace Boat weighed anchor from Israel before coming to Turkey.
Peace Boat, aiming to galvanize public and government support for multilateral negotiations on a Nuclear Weapons Convention to ban nuclear weapons, also hosted three witnesses of Hiroshima bombing during the World War II in 1945. They called on for nuclear disarmament at the activities at the port.
Peace Boat that will return to Japan on November 16, 2012 set sail to Greece after the passengers toured Efes (Ephesus) ancient city, house of the Virgin Mary, Basilica of St. Jean in Kusadasi.
Peace Boat visits an average of 15 ports on each global voyage. During the visits, typically one to three days in length, they develop various ways of promoting peace, human rights, equal and sustainable development and respect for the environment.
