ISTANBUL (AA) - September 24, 2012 - Syria has turned into ruins due to the air and land attacks of forces loyal to the Assad regime since March 15, 2011.
The continuation of air attacks with 500 kilograms vacuum bombs and TNT Barrel bombs and attacks staged by tanks have destroyed all corners of Syria and caused "an artificial earthquake" in the country.
Hundreds of lives have been lost in buildings that were demolished in air and land attacks in Syria.
According to the expert engineers of the Syrian Human Rights Organization, at least 2.8 million buildings have been destroyed in Syria to date.
-Most demolished buildings in Homs-
355,000 buildings were completely destroyed by Assad forces and these buildings included private residences, flats, schools, mosques, churches and hospitals, the Syrian Human Rights Organization said.
Homs ranks first among Syrian cities with most damaged buildings. Around 800,000 buildings were destroyed in Homs by Assad forces.
Idlib ranks second among Syrian cities with most damaged buildings. Around 500,000 buildings were destroyed in Idlib by Assad forces.
According to the Syrian Human Rights Organization, around 425,000 buildings were damaged by Assad forces in Damascus.
Reconstructing the demolished buildings will cost 35 billion USD and take 3 years to complete, the Syrian Human Rights Organization also said.
