ANKARA
The new service building of the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) in Ankara was inaugurated with a ceremony attended by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan, Turkish Development Minister Cevdet Yilmaz, and other high level officials from Islamic countries on Saturday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ali Babacan said that the SESRIC will make more contributions to the economic and social development of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries with its new service building in Ankara.
"We want to see that products, goods, humans, capital and energy move freely among the members of the OIC. We want to see that borders lose meaning one by one," Babacan underlined.
The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), was founded as a subsidiary organ of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in pursuance of Resolution No. 2/8-E adopted by the Eighth Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (ICFM), held in Tripoli in May 1977. The Centre started its activities in Ankara on June 1, 1978.
