ANKARA (AA) - The third annual Istanbul International Ballet Competition has begun accepting DVD submissions for the upcoming contest in July next year.
The deadline for submitting performances is May, 2014.
The event's artistic director Nilay Gungor says it boosts Turkey's visibility in the world of ballet.
"We have shown the world that the Turkish ballet has its place on the international arena," she said Monday.
Turkey has 60 years of experience with classical ballet, the style in which the competition is held.
The event will host prominent figures in international ballet, in jury capacity as well directors of famed ballet schools.
A total of 55,000 euros will be awarded to those who rank highest, with the top honor bringing a 10,000-euro purse.
More detail on the contest can be found on the official website.
